The cricket club held its AGM on the 17th November 2014, Sam Milward was elected
1st Team Captain, while Danny Peacock will captain the 2nd Team again, best of luck to both these young men who have stepped up to the bar, best of luck lads.
Our cricket club has been playing in the 6-a side All Saints indoor cricket league this winter, Stuart McPhee and captain Jay Horne are doing a great job, Barnby Dun C.C. are top of the league at the moment having lost only one game from the seven they have played.
The indoor cricket nets began on Friday 9th January, over 17 players attended the first two weeks, a great turn out this early in Jan. Thanks to Hungerhill School for this facility, we
have a great relationship with them, the school uses our ground in the season for
inter-school matches, emphasising our community partnership, 5.30pm until 8.00pm new players old and new are always welcome to come down and participate.
A number of dates for diaries – The B.D.C.C. Big Bash will again be held on Bank Holiday 4th May, this is part of B.D. & K.S. Sports Association Bank Holiday Community Day, after the success of last year the event will take place due to popular demand.
Over the Easter weekend, Barnby Dun C.C. will be having an 8-a side last man stand cricket tournament, this has to be seen to believe, coloured clothing, white ball, coloured pads, each innings 1 hour, 18 overs – Don’t Blink.
Plenty of cricket to come down at the Glass Park Ground, let’s keep everything crossed for good weather.. Alan Young the clubs secretary is currently pursuing an E.C.B. Grant to help us purchase some covers and permanent outdoor seating for our ground, best of luck Alan.
And finally, with great regret, late last year Barnby Dun Cricket Club lost one of our greatest supporters, Keverne Bullars past away peacefully at home with his wife and daughter at his bedside. Kev served on the committee, cut the grass, rolled our wickets, cleaned our changing rooms, raised money for the club with summer draws, apart from that he was a great guy to be with , and to have around, our condolences to Mandy and Brooke from everyone at B.D.C.C.
